Dishes with pork
There are many notable pork dishes in the world. Pork is the culinary name given to meat derived from the domestic pig (Sus domesticus). It is one of the most widely eaten meats in the world, with evidence of pig husbandry dating back to 5000 BC. It is available fresh as well as preserved.
Several Christian denominations, including the Seventh-day Adventist Church, forbid the consumption of pork.
Trichinosis is a parasitic disease caused by eating raw or undercooked pork, wild game, or vegetables contaminated by the larvae of the roundworm Trichinella spiralis. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends cooking ground pork obtained from pork carcasses to 160°F then resting for 3 minutes and cooking whole cuts to 145°F followed by 3 minutes resting.
As with other meat chops, pork chops are loin cuts taken perpendicular to a pig’s spine and are usually ribs or vertebrae. It is common for pork chops to be served as one portion, accompanied by applesauce, vegetables, and other sides. Pork is one of the most popular meats consumed around the world and is unprocessed and leaner than other cuts. Pork chops make up 10% of total pork consumption in the United States and are the most commonly consumed pork cut.
The preparation process
You can roast, grill, or fry pork chops, but you can also stuff them. Pork chops are available in boneless or bone-in varieties. Pork chops are normally between 1 and 2 inches thick (1 and 5 centimeters) in thickness. By improving breeding techniques, pork can now be cooked at a lower temperature, keeping it juicy while still being safe to eat. According to United States government guidelines, 145°F (63°C) is the minimum temperature at which it should be cooked.
There are many ways to prepare this versatile cut of meat.

The ingredients of pork chops apple
Checklist of Ingredients
Sliced 3/4-inch thick pork chops (loin or shoulder) with bone-ins
The salt should be coarse and the pepper should be freshly ground
Oil from extra-virgin olives or vegetable oils: 1 tablespoon
Butter, unsalted, 2 tablespoons
Slice one large white onion
Approximately 3 cups of cored and sliced apples
The broth can be made from chicken broth, beer, white wine, or cider
Steps to follow
Checklist for Instructions
The first step
Using a 14-inch cast-iron skillet, heat the chops over high heat, sprinkle liberally with salt and pepper and swirl in the olive oil. Trim excess fat from the chops, then sprinkle with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the pork chops in the pan and do not move them for a few minutes to ensure a good golden sear forms. Turn the chops and brown well for about 10 minutes on the second side, then transfer to a warm plate to serve.
The second step
Stir in the beer or other liquid and return chops to the pan after the onions are lightly caramelized. Add the onion slices and apples and cook for about 8 minutes.
The third step
After turning halfway through, cover the pork chops with the apple mixture and cook until tender (about 15 more minutes, depending on size). Transfer the chops back to the warm plate and simmer the mixture for a few minutes on high if it needs to thicken. Over rice or mashed potatoes, serve the chops with a large spoonful of the apple-onion mixture.
Notes from the chef
The onion can be substituted with leeks or potatoes. Beer, white wine, cider, chicken broth, or even water can be used to deglaze the pan.
